THE THEATRE OF ANTON CHEKHOV is an exceptional opportunity for actors and stage directors interested in advancing their practical knowledge and experience in The Stanislavski’s System under the guidelines of – Ángel Gutiérrez (Spain).

Ángel Gutiérrez  is one of the greatest and most influential modern theatre practitioners of our time, theatre director, and leading researcher of The Stanislavski’s System and of the literary and artistic heritage of Anton Chekhov.

The Stanislavski’s System is the technique that allows the control of one’s self, body, and voice, because that is all that an actor has to work with. The method is the key that will help us to own and control our own nature and to develop the endless possibilities of the soul. The Stanislavski’s System is inspired by natural laws where the physical and psychic is indivisible, where the most complex spiritual and psychic processes are expressed by an uninterrupted chain of actions that are real and specific.

The work will be based on the working literary material of Anton Chekhov’s three masterpieces: The Seagull (1895), The Cherry Orchard (1903), and Uncle Vanya (1896). Improvisation, rehearsal procedures, working on the text, and learning how to apply the exercises/tools when working on a character for a monologue or scene will be practiced, performed, and critiqued.

Participants will have an opportunity to share their artistic work at a presentational showcase and symposium on the open-air theatre stage and in Chekhov’s theatre yard at The State Literary and Memorial Museum of Anton Chekhov in Melikhovo.
